Regional & Field Studies
Integration of core sedimentology description with all other geological datasets including, drill cuttings, wireline logs, biostratigraphy, reservoir structure, sequence stratigraphy, etc.
Sedimentology
Performed on the slabbed core at any scale
required, providing a detailed description of lithology, sedimentary
structures, grain size variation, mineralogy and macroscopic
diagenetic features. Description performed using ApplecoreTM
includes classification and analyses of lithofacies and
interpretation of depositional environments. Data is summarised onto
a composite log integrating the core description with for example
wireline logs and core analysis data.
Petrology & Mineralogy Detailed
petrographic description is provided using thin sections, grain
size, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)
analyses.
Core Orientation Measurement of the
orientation of bedding, natural open and sealed fractures,
slickensides and associated striae is performed on the core
sections. This can be combined with 360 degree digital core image
capture for integration with wireline fracture detection logs.
Calculation of natural fracture density, identified fracture types
and description of each fracture with respect to its condition,
origin and any fluid or mineral fill.
Cuttings Analysis of cuttings using
thin-section, SEM and XRD analyses provides information on
lithology, detrital and diagenetic mineralogy within the uncored
intervals.
