Water Analysis Exploration water samples are routinely analysed for API 12 ion composition, together with organic acid and drilling fluid tracer concentrations.
Short form analysis is performed on production water samples to evaluate compositional change and residual inhibitor concentration. A large volume of samples can be analysed rapidly to enable efficient and cost effective deployment of chemical inhibitor.
Organic and Inorganic Scale or
Deposit
Analyses of a scale or deposit is performed to determine the composition and molecular structure. The information is used to define it's source, likely formation characteristics and possible remedial treatment senarios. Analysis techniques include ICPAES, GC, SEM, EDX, XRD and FTIR.
Flow Assurance
Testing
Specialised deposition tests are performed to determine reservoir, production and pipeline flow characteristics. Core Lab performs asphaltene deposition analysis as a function of pressure, temperature and composition. Wax analysis includes WAT, rheology profile, deposition rate and gel strength measurement.
Crude Assay Analysis
Analyses of crude oil and distillation fractions to determine a variety of physical and chemical properties. These results will affect fluid processing, transportation and crude value.
Fluid Compatibility
Core Lab perform specialised projects to investigate possible production problems caused by mixing two or more produced fluids. A wide range of tests can be performed including:
- Static Jar Tests (water/water)
- Emulsion and Rheology Tests (water/oil)
- Fluid blending studies to determine potential deposition (oil/oil)
- Gas lift/gas injection to evaluate asphaltene deposition (gas/oil)
Chemical Evaluation
Independent review of third party chemical products to evaluate chemical efficiency and optimal chemical deployment concentration.
