Simple . . . Conventional cutters cut pipe radially making fishing operations, re-entry of the tubing, casing to run tools, and continued drilling operations more involved and complicated processes. The Split Shot® Cutter is run in a linear configuration adjacent to any collar or connection and positioned by in-line magnets. After detonation, the collar or connection is split allowing the pipe to be freed for easy removal. Unlike conventional cutters which flare the pipe after cutting, the Split Shot® Cutter's clean cutting properties allow pipe to be pulled freely without any additional drag or damage to the casing. Fishing operations, re-entry of the tubing, casing to run tools, and continued drilling operations are effortless as there is no non-drillable debris left in the hole.
Fast . . . Conventional cutters are often slow to run in the well due to the "Piston Effect." The Piston Effect is caused by a cutter, with too large diameter, being inserted into the small clearance of a pipe. When conventional cutter diameters are reduced to allow for passage through these restrictions, the performance efficiency is proportionally reduced often leading to successive failures or incomplete operations. The small diameter of the Split Shot® Cutters eliminates the Piston Effect. The Split Shot® Cutters, while running in the hole, will reach target depths in 25% of the time. The small diameter Split Shot®Cutters do not experience performance losses associated with running through restrictions and can be run through spears, dill collars, packers or tubing.
Superior . . . Expensive clean-out operations to remove scale, paraffin or other obstructions may be required prior to performing conventional cutting operations. This can significantly add to the total cost of the pipe recovery operation. The Split Shot® Cutters' small diameter allows it to move easily past these obstacles. Wells with severe down-hole obstructions that have been abandoned because conventional pipe recovery techniques were not possible, can now be easily reworked and brought back on production or injection.
Economical . . . Three sizes of Split Shot® Cutters will perform 99% of current conventional or non-conventional pipe recovery operations. These three sizes will cut tubing or casing ranging from 1.315" O.D. up to 16" O.D. The need for a cutter for each size of pipe is now eliminated. The Split Shot® Cutter is more cost effective than conventional cutters. Since three sizes fit all, costly inventories are now eliminated saving money for both operator and service company.

Mud
In Nueces County New Mexico a well operator wanted to cut casing at 2,800 feet. He spent all day the first day and never got the jet cutter down. Then next day he tried a Split Shot® cutter. At the completion of his run the second day, with the Split Shot® cutter, his time was only 45 minutes in and out of the hole.

No Other Cutter Would
Go Down
This well in Andews County Texas was producing 50 BOPD and became filled with water. It was discovered that the water was entering through holes in the casing. Fishing operations found the 7" casing had collapsed and not a single conventional cutter would run. The casing was then cut with the Split Shot®, the bad casing was replaced, and the well returned to 50 BOPD

Paraffin
Blockage
In Lea County, New Mexico a well operator could not get his Jet-Cutter down-hole due to paraffin blockage. He ran the tubing in the hole and even hot oiled the casing in hopes of penetrating the blockage. After countless hours, he shut down his operation for the day, and called for a Split Shot® cutter. Upon receiving the Split Shot® cutter, he ran the same operation in only an hour.

Corroded
Tubing
This injection well was dormant for several years. The operator wanted to return it to injection yet the tubing was too corroded to remove with a conventional cutter. So using a 1" Split Shot® 600, he cut the tubing one joint above the packer, laid down the bad tubing, pulled the packer and returned the well to injection.
