Stim-Lab Division conducts a wide array of flow studies and related testing to evaluate the potential for fluids contacting a reservoir creating production impairment. Typical fluids evaluated are the base fluids and components used in completion and fracturing work. Mud damage and mud filtrate damage studies are also possible with specialized equipment to simulate circulation in the wellbore. Some of the standard studies available are listed below. Customized studies can be designed to meet specific needs. Contact us for more information.
• Critical salinity flow studies
• Critical velocity flow studies
• Retained permeability with brine, oil or gas flow
• Relative permeability damage
• Dynamic fluid loss measurements with mud or fracturing fluid alone or combined with retained permeability studies
• Damage removal with acid or other additives
• Independent verification of additive performance or comparison of additives from different suppliers
• Fractured core shale sensitivity studies to fluids and closure pressure
• Capillary suction time tests (fluid sensitivity test for small samples)
• Roller oven stability test (test to evaluate shale-fluid sensitivity)
• Formation damage studies with coal samples
Supporting Services
• Routine core analysis to establish baseline data
• X-ray diffraction analysis to verify mineralogy
• Scanning electron microscopy
