STIM-LAB has the capability of chemically saturating different sizes of proppant
on a custom basis and drying the saturated proppant at various temperatures on a
large-scale volume. Then the proppant is placed in a rotating dryer and dried
at a specified temperature and time. Moisture content can be measured for
quality control purposes to ensure it meets customer standards.
Particle size and distribution can be measured by means of a Malvern Mastersizer.
Particulate size can range from 0.05 um to 900 um. The particulate
can either be in the form of dry solids or suspended in a solution of water based
or oil based mud. An integrated computer software package generates tables
including mesh size, aperture size, percent particle volume, and percent volume
below which solids passes through a particular mesh size.
