CASE 5 - PackScan™ Confirms Competent Annular Pack

PackScan When two SpectraScan™ Images run over two months time both indicated a possible void in the lower section of this wells lower gravel pack; a PackScan™ Image was obtained to make a direct measurement of the annular gravel pack in that region. The data confirmed that no void existed in the gravel pack completion.

As confirmed by the operator, it is noted that the lower interval where no tracer is found is most likely filled with formation sand. The slight decrease in count rate across this interval may also indicate this to be formation sand that is packed to a lower porosity than the gravel pack sand above it. With the formation sand in the annulus prior to the frac pack no stimulation across the lower section was obtained as indicated by the lack of traced frac material.
