This rock-based evaluation of reservoirs and seal rock facies in the offshore basins of Ghana, Togo and Benin extends a comprehensive study completed in the transform margin in offshore Côte d’Ivoire, adding to Core Laboratories’ significant portfolio of Atlantic Margin studies.
Presented in two modules, Ghana incorporates a database of 67 wells, whilst Togo and Benin includes 8 and 14 wells respectively. The studies aim to incorporate stratigraphy, petrography and reservoir description, regional geology, and geochemistry, based on rock material obtained from core and cuttings where available, together with downhole logs and data mined from historic well reports and published literature.
An important objective is to provide a fully integrated regional database of all rock, log, map and geological information that can provide fundamental ‘ground truth’ data for interpreting the location of the main sediment transport pathways and depocentres, and provide a valuable reference for evaluating existing and new play concepts across the eastern part of the West African Transform Margin.
