Environmental Impact

In line with the requirements of our United Nations Global Compact membership, it is the policy of Core Lab to conduct business in a manner consistent with applicable environmental regulations. In areas where environmental regulations do not exist, Core Lab exercises practical care in its efforts to protect employees and preserve the environment.

Environmental Footprint

We are focused on reducing our environmental footprint, increasing our performance, and improving our Company’s sustainability. Dedication to these efforts helps us reduce waste and the consumption of non-renewable resources while lowering the cost of operations.

Our Locations

We diligently assess impacts on the environment and community to ensure our buildings and the surrounding land are maintained and any potential environmental conditions are remediated as required.

Biodiversity – Natural Lands

Our biodiversity protection efforts are focused on ensuring that we comply with Good International Industry Practice (GIIP), as well as local laws and regulations.

CDP Disclosure

Core Lab discloses its environmental impact through CDP, a global non-profit that runs the world’s leading environmental disclosure platform.

GHG Emissions

To better understand our impact on the environment, we engage S&P Global Sustainable 1 (formerly Trucost), a sustainability data company. With their expertise, we are able to assess Core Lab’s operational and value chain greenhouse gas emissions in line with the World Resource Institute (WRI) / World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) Corporate Standard (Scope 1 and 2) and Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Guidelines (GHG Protocol).

Engaging S&P Global Sustainable1

  • Improves our operational Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission quantification methodology by integrating primary data.
  • Helps us understand and disclose our Scope 3 emissions by quantifying our Scope 3 GHG emissions according to the fifteen Scope 3 categories outlined in the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain Guidelines.
  • Helps us set science-based targets for our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

Our GHG emissions data have been collected for all our locations by country, business activity, and location, enabling a more comprehensive analysis of our operational footprint and value chain impacts. This also provides the data needed to create climate targets and goals that could be submitted to the SBTi for validation.
